Tax Attorney
Tolu Edun, Esq.
Former IRS Senior Revenue Officer — Civil Tax Litigation
Biography
Tolu Edun is a Tax Attorney at Segal, Cohen & Landis who brings a uniquely authoritative perspective: before joining the firm, he served as a Senior Revenue Officer with the Internal Revenue Service at their Southern California Inland Empire office.
As a Senior IRS Revenue Officer, Tolu provided legal advice and trained Southern California IRS personnel on civil tax procedures, corporate transactions, contractual rights and obligations, partnership agreements, lien priority, wage garnishment, contract liability, tort liability, and criminal investigative issues.
That insider experience gives Tolu a clear advantage at the negotiation table. He knows exactly how the IRS evaluates cases — and how to present a client's situation in the most favorable light.
Tolu practices all aspects of civil tax litigation including tax audit defense, collection due process appeals, offers in compromise, and collection defense. He frequently represents clients before the IRS, the Franchise Tax Board, California Department of Tax and Fee Administration (CDTFA), and the Employment Development Department (EDD).
He has represented taxpayers in matters involving income tax, employment tax, corporate tax, and defense against state and federal tax penalties including failure to file and failure to pay. Tolu received his Juris Doctor degree from North Carolina Central University School of Law, with a focus on business law and alternative dispute resolution.
